CHAPLAINCY
I am Rev. David Osei-Bonsu Nhyira, the Chaplain of Asanteman Senior High School. The office of the chaplain is that of a pastoral ministry within the school supporting the spiritual, social and emotional wellbeing of both student and staff. These areas; spiritual, social and emotional faculties should be well nurtured, grounded and fortified as stable pillars for greater academic heights on the part of students and decent professional services on the part of teachers. In the light of this, the chaplain spearheads the organization and co-ordination of worship sessions on the academic calendar that would see to the realization of the aforementioned. Below are some of the key areas of focus of the chaplain.
STUDENTS
- Developing good pastoral care of support, guidance, nurture and encouragement for the students.
- As a religious resource person for the student.
- Help students to discover meaning and purpose of life areas (eg. Spiritual, academic, social and moral)
- Helping to bring a balance between the spiritual and academic life of students for holistic success.
- Help in crisis situation (eg. Relational crisis such as peer crisis, student-teacher crisis, student-parent crisis, bereavement care and assistance among others)
- Offering spiritual advice as a pathway for success.
- Serving as a counselor to the psycho-spiritual needs of the student.
STAFF
- Providing pastoral and spiritual support.
- Identifying and motivating teacher involvement in student spiritual upbringing.
- Serving as a counselor to the psycho-spiritual needs of staff.
- Available for staff support and advice in staff advocacy in disciplinary proceedings.
